Abstract

Control in curing of unsaturated polyester resin has been studied by using curing agents, an accelerator, an inhibitor, and a regulator at room or middle temperatures. The control by the curing agents, the accelerator, and the inhibitor is not effective owing to change in the gel and cure times in the same direction and degree. The addition of decreased amounts of the curing agents significantly lowers the degree of cure and the properties of cured resin, but that of the accelerator does not. The control of curing properties by the regulator CA-10 is most effective for the shortening of molding cycle time. It can prolong gel time and pot life, and shorten cure time, but does not lower the degree of cure and the mechanical strength of cured resin.
