Temperature-Sensitive Fabrics
Source abstract
Abstract
What if your shirt could keep you warm when it is cold outside, and cool you down as soon as you enter a heated building? What if your trousers could look like a regular pair on an average day, but automatically transform into puffy outdoor gear when you go to a colder climate? What if all you had to do to cool down during hot summer days was turn your shirt inside out? As a result of advances in science, a number of fabrics that adapt to ambient temperature are currently being developed. With both functional and fashionable end-uses, these innovative textiles could eventually become part of our everyday wardrobe.
