Abstract

Abstract The sequence of introduction of plasticizers in relation to the other components, and mainly in relation to the stabilizers, in PVC-compositions has a marked effect on the compatibility and efficiency of the action of plasticizers, and hence on the whole complex of their physical and mechanical properties. The impact strength, determined by the work required for the destruction of the standard sample in the standard diagram of impact loading is extremely sensitive to material brittleness. Its variation reflects the effect of the sequence of plasticizer introduction on the dynamic-mechanical behaviour of PVC-compositions and the problem is treated in relation to the effect of plasticizer nature, the amount of plasticizer introduced into the composition, and testing temperature.
