Abstract

Paper towels are tissue paper products. There is an increasing demand and consumption of paper towel in domestic and industrial use due to its good absorbency properties. As a result, the demand for higher quality paper towels is increasing. Although, good quality is related to product functionality,1–4 consumers always feel the paper towel with their hands and fingers and usually seek paper towels with greater sensory comfort.5,6 However, the majority of scientists, researchers, and companies only investigate functional properties, such as absorbency and strength, while the hand attributes of paper towels are seldom evaluated. Therefore, a deeper insight into paper towel hand properties is required.
