Abstract

The textile industry affects the environment in many ways, one of which is through the production of wastewater. In particular, effluent (liquid waste discharged into rivers and seas) from factories contains complex chemicals that pollute the environment, and which could prove to be a serious threat to the communities in which dye houses operate. In an effort to reduce environmental pollution, researchers are looking into the use of bacteria to decolorize textile wastewater.
