Abstract

Abstract Silicon carbide (SiC) ceramics are vital high-performance materials for demanding industries, valued for their superior mechanical strength and tunable thermal and electronic properties. Additive manufacturing (AM) unlocks their potential by addressing fabrication complexity and enabling design freedom. This review provides a comprehensive overview of AM technologies for SiC, offering an in-depth analysis of manufacturing precision, forming sizes, and emerging applications. It highlights how AM produces intricate, structurally controlled SiC components with enhanced properties. The analysis also addresses persistent challenges, including quality control, densification, and scalability. Furthermore, this review critically examines the advantages and limitations of various AM processes for performance optimization, including high-precision fabrication, post-processing, morphological characteristics, densification, and strength of printed parts. Finally, it outlines future perspectives aimed at advancing material performance and fostering sustainable innovation.
