Abstract

Porous MnO 2 /Co composites with regular ellipse shape were synthesized through a facile hydrothermal‐decomposition method. Coembedded manganese oxalate precursors were firstly synthesized by a hydrothermal process. Then, Mn 2 O 3 /Co composites were obtained by a following precisely controlled decomposition process. After a further oxidation reaction, nanofibrous MnO 2 /Co composites were formed with well‐retained ellipse microframework inherited from precursors. X‐ray diffractometer ( XRD ), thermogravimetry and differential thermal analysis ( TG ‐ DTA ), field‐emission scanning electron microscope ( FESEM ), and energy dispersive spectroscope ( EDS ) were used to characterize the composition, structure, and morphology of all the samples. The electrochemical properties of MnO 2 /Co were studied using cyclic voltammetry and galvanostatic charge–discharge test in 1.0 mol/L Na 2 SO 4 electrolyte. Doping of Co in an appropriate range can improve the electrochemical performance of MnO 2 .
