Abstract
The Editors, Advisory Editor and the Publisher have the sad duty to announce the death of Olgierd C. Zienkiewicz, long standing board member of this journal. An obituary will be published shortly in the International Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, the journal founded by Professor Zienkiewicz together with Professor R. H. Gallagher, in 1969. Professor Zienkiewicz was one of the giants in the development of the finite element method. He will be greatly missed. We extend our sympathy to Helen, his wife, and to all of his family.
