Abstract

Two-Dimensional layered mesoporous In 2 O 3 nanosheets are successfully fabricated through a facile one-step hydrothermal method. The test methods include scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscope (TEM) are used to characterize the as-prepared sample to identify the sample characteristics. The gas sensing properties are also tested. The as-prepared materials exhibit remarkable sensitivity and selectivity to ethanol at the ppb level. The response is 52 for 50 ppb ethanol gas at the optimum operating temperature of 270 °C, and the detection limit of the sensor for ethanol is 0.5 ppb. The synergistic effect of the mesoporous nanosheet structure, large specific surface area and large number of active sites provided by the layered structure can be responsible for the remarkably ethanol sensing performance.
