Abstract

Energy harvesting could replenish or even eliminate the use of batteries for sensor nodes in IoT applications making them economical and efficient to be deployed in accessible areas without requiring replacements. In this paper, a wide-band energy harvesting system is described, which is capable of powering sensor nodes for a prolonged time. Integrated circuitry along with the energy harvester plays a key role in the generation of power. A novel integrated circuitry based on current amplification is described in this work. The circuitry is able to amplify the current output and provide a resulting power of around 1.04 mW. When the energy harvester is implemented in an array implementation, the power from the circuitry also increases to around 40.43 mW. The energy harvester has resonance frequency below 150 Hz for capturing ambient vibrations while working on an input acceleration of ‘1 g’.
