Abstract

The metal oxide-based nanomaterials are receiving much attention in optical applications because of its surface plasmon resonance properties in the near-infrared band. A facile method for the large-scale synthesis Cu2O–Ag nanocomposites is reported by a spontaneous galvanic replacement reaction. The structural properties and the chemical states of the as-prepared Cu2O–Ag are characterized by XRD and XPS, respectively. The morphology and microstructure of Cu2O–Ag are further characterized with TEM and HRTEM that Ag cluster is formed on the surfaces of Cu2O. Based on the study of real-time transmission spectrum and particle size analyzer, the influence of silver contents on the size distribution of Cu2O–Ag nanocomposites structure and the variation law of absorption spectrum is given. The nature of the kinetic growth mechanisms of the Cu2O–Ag is investigation in detail. The photothermal conversion characteristics of Cu2O–Ag nanocomposites are significantly enhanced, which may be attributed to the enhancement of infrared absorption of Cu2O by thin silver cluster.
