Abstract

The present research articles focus on the transference traits of III acoustic tearing fracture mode in twin piezoelectric materials, i.e., (PZT-4 and PZT-5H) under impact loading. Using mathematical integral transforms, i.e., Laplace and Fourier together with Wiener–Hopf technique to get the solution of the problem using mixed boundary values. The existence of generalized Rayleigh interfacial wave is discussed and the solutions of the coupled fields are derived. For the mode III crack propagation in piezoelectric materials, an electro-acoustic surface wave, the Bluestein–Gulyaev wave, controls the crack propagation speed. The dynamic stress and displacement intensity factor of the interfacial crack propagation characteristics are expressed. The numerical results of the problem and dimensionless quantities for the same material combinations are presented and discussed in details. The outcomes show that the crack transmission is affected by the electromechanical coupling coefficient. Moreover, if the velocity of the dynamic crack transmission reaches the generalized Raleigh wave speed, the dynamic stress intensity factor will disappear. Furthermore, for a given time, the ratio of the dynamic stress intensity factor to load increases with the electromechanical coupling coefficient decreasing. Numerical examples are presented to highlight the result. Comparative study for the considered structure is done with piezoelectric-piezomagnetic bi-material structure for the better use.
