Adsorption of various metals by carboxymethyl-β-cyclodextrin-modified Zn Al layered double hydroxides
Source abstract
Abstract
Abstract Herein we studied metal ion adsorption in aqueous solution by Zn Al layered double hydroxides (Zn Al LDH) modified with carboxymethyl-β-cyclodextrin (CM-β-CD) ions (CM-β-CD•Zn-Al LDH). In single-ion solutions containing Li+, Nd3+, or Pb2+, CM-β-CD•Zn-Al LDH adsorbed Nd3+ and Pb2+ but adsorbed very little Li+. Maximum adsorption followed the order Pb2+ > Nd3+ > Li+. In a mixed solution containing Li+, Nd3+, Ni2+, Cu2+, and Pb2+, the adsorption rate followed the order Cu2+ ≫ Pb2+ > Nd3+ > Ni2+ > Li+.
