DESIGN AND SPECIFICATION OF FLEXIBLE BRICK PAVEMENTS
Source abstract
Abstract
Brick pavements can be generally classified in two ways: flexible brick pavements and rigid brick pavements. A flexible brick paving system consists of a well-compacted subgrade beneath a layer of crushed stone, a sand setting bed, and sand between the pavers. On the other hand, rigid brick paving is most commonly identified by the presence of mortar joints. This article deals mainly with flexible brick pavements in roads and streets.
