Effect of temperature on fracture behavior of plastic refractories
Source abstract
Abstract
Various grades of plastic refractories were studied to characterize fracture parameters, especially work of fracture, as a function of temperature. Significant differences in the work of fracture trends are noted for clay and sulfate (air-bonded) plastics vs those with phosphate bonds. Results obtained from this initial survey are interesting and show the need for continued, detailed evaluation of plastic refractories. Evaluation of the effect of aggregate type and grain sizing needs to be expanded in scope. Likewise, more detailed work on various bond systems is needed.
