Dry scrubbing controls kiln emissions

Lars Hestbjerg Hansen

Abstract

The Clean Air Act Amendments of 1990 require that industrial emissions be significantly reduced by 2000, and some states require reductions with earlier deadlines. This is a critical time for US ceramic industries. There are only a few ways to conform to the upcoming regulations, singularly or in combination: change the composition of raw materials, change the way kilns are operated and/or install air pollution control equipment.
