Combustion gas corrosion resistance of heat-exchange materials and refractories for glass furnaces at high temperatures; Part II: Oxides and composites

Wen‐Yi Lin, J. T. Hsu, Y. Berta, Robert F. Speyer

Abstract

This article continues the description of the stability of glass furnace refractories and heat exchange materials in combustion environments. Part one of this study was presented last month. The results of testing of composites and oxides are presented here. In this study, Al[sub 2]TiO[sub 5]-Al[sub 6]Si[sub 2]O[sub 13] composites were selected as a candidate material based on its thermal shock resistance. Chromic oxide was also selected because of its high corrosion resistance.
