Proper selection of kiln furniture
Source abstract
Abstract
Kiln furniture, a commodity considered a necessary evil by some, has a critical and measurable effect on the overall performance of a kiln's firing process and its operating costs. Used for decades, kiln furniture technology continues to change. Simple changes in furniture architecture, design and specifications can bring about improvements in ceramic production. Engineers representing Acme Marls Ltd., Ferro Corp.'s Refractories Div. and Saint Gobain/Norton Industrial Ceramics Corp. join a researcher from Anatolua University for this discussion of the properties, design and applications of silicon carbide, cordierite, mullite and alumina kiln furniture.
