Molybdenum disilicide heating elements: meeting advanced ceramics requirements

V. Bizzarri, B. Linder, N. Lindskog

Abstract

Electric heating of sintering furnaces and mechanical testing equipment has long been preferred because of the controllability, dependability, and cleanliness that is provided. Because molybdenum disilicide (MoSi{sub 2}) heating elements provide these requirements as well as flexibility and higher operating temperatures, their use is growing, especially for advanced ceramics.
