Abstract

A novel layered nanocomposite CoTMPyP/Ti5[Formula: see text] was synthesized via exfoliation/restacking where cobalt porphyrin (CoTMPyP) was intercalated into exfoliated titanoniobate (Ti5[Formula: see text] nanosheets. The CoTMPyP/Ti5[Formula: see text] was characterized by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), energy-dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), and ultraviolet-visible absorption spectrscopy (UV–Vis). The morphology and structure analyses indicated that CoTMPyP/Ti5[Formula: see text] was synthesized successfully. The CoTMPyP was speculated to have been implanted with an angle of [Formula: see text] into the gallery of the Ti5[Formula: see text]. Electrochemical methods, including differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) and cyclic voltammetry (CV) were used to investigate the catalytic properties of CoTMPyP/Ti5[Formula: see text]. The cyclic voltammograms indicated that the CoTMPyP/Ti5[Formula: see text] exhibited excellent electrocatalysis of ascorbic acid (AA) in neutral phosphate buffered solution. The cyclic voltammograms further demonstrated an excellent diffusion-controlled electrochemical redox process. On the basis of the DPV analysis, the detection limit of AA was calculated to be [Formula: see text][Formula: see text]moL[Formula: see text][Formula: see text] within the concentration range from [Formula: see text] to [Formula: see text][Formula: see text]moL [Formula: see text].
