Ice Microsphere Optical Cavities (Advanced Optical Materials 18/2024)
Source abstract
Abstract
Ice Microsphere Optical Cavities Water ice, one of the most ubiquitous and important solids on the earth's surface, exhibits excellent optical properties. In article number 2302609, Xin Guo and co-workers demonstrate ice microsphere optical cavities and explore their resonant characteristics for the first time. Whispering gallery modes within the ice microspheres are excited in a broad spectral range from near-ultraviolet to near-infrared. This work provides a promising platform for exploring ice optics on the microscale.
