Abstract

Highly efficient frequency conversion in GaSe nanoribbons is demonstrated in article number 1701012 by Fuxing Gu and co-workers. Benefitting from the strong confinement of sub-wavelength optical guiding and high second-order nonlinearity of the GaSe material, significantly enhanced nonlinear light–matter interaction is observed in GaSe nanoribbons. Based on transverse second-harmonic generation, a single GaSe nanoribbon-configured optical auto-correlator for ultrashort pulse characterization is demonstrated, with high sensitivity down to few femto-joule.
