Bioimaging: Micropillar Templates for Dielectric Filled Metal Arrays and Flexible Metamaterials (Advanced Optical Materials 3/2017)
Source abstract
Abstract
A LiF pillar perforated microholey aluminum layer is shown in the image by Rosa I. Merino and co-workers. The structure presented in article number 1600670 is prepared using a directionally solidified eutectic slice as template. Two features make it particularly relevant: the holes are filled with towering dielectric or polaritonic micropillars; and it can be transferred to polymer films, which makes it flexible. It shows enhanced subwavelength transmittance at NIR and THz wavelengths. The band-pass windows can be tailored via the hole dimension and the eutectic used as template.
