Abstract

Self-supported gold aerogels of centimeter-dimension and tunable ligament sizes are designed by Ran Du, Yue Hu, Alexander Eychmüller and co-workers (article number 2100352) as new-type 3D surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) substrates, featuring abundant hot spots distributed in 3D space. By investigating the ligament-size-effect on SERS performance, the optimized aerogel substrate manifests a high enhancement factor of up to 109, outstanding misfocus tolerance (>300 μm), exceptional stability/reusability, and multiplex detection ability.
