The Potential of Combining Thermal Scanning Probes and Phase‐Change Materials for Tunable Metasurfaces (Advanced Optical Materials 2/2021)
Source abstract
Abstract
Phase-change materials are an established material for data storage applications and promising for active photonics. However, the common laser-induced switching between the different structural states of the material is restricted due to the diffraction limit. In article number 2001243, Ann-Katrin Michel, Dmitry Chigrin and co-workers propose local switching by a heated scanning tip. Thereby, a highly-resolved tunable metasurface with perfect absorption in the telecommunication range can be created. The authors further investigate the time-resolved switching conditions by using multiphysics simulations.
