Abstract

Abstract This study presents a polarization‐sensitive dual nanodisk nanopixel that implements controllable color conversion and on‐off switching. The color, the nanopixel expresses is manipulated by the morphology and the interdisk dielectric gap for adjusting plasmonic coupling tuned by the polarization direction. The method attempted in this way allows for precise adjustment of the peak position, peak shifting range, and intensity depending on the polarization angle, thereby controlling saturation, brightness, and hue. This allows for adjusting the peak shifting range to a tens to hundreds nanometer wavelength range in color conversion mode, and the contrast of light intensity in on‐off mode is realized ≈3.2‐fold higher at 650 nm‐wavelength. Using these nanopixels, are generated image patterns that varied depending on polarization. The proposed nanopixels have the potential for promising future technologies, including displays, optical devices, high‐sensitivity optical sensors, data security and encryption, and data storage.
