Fabrication of Thermoresponsive and Multimaterial Hydrogel Sheets by Spatially Controlled Aspiration and Interconnection of Microgel Building Blocks (Adv. Mater. Technol. 23/2023)

Abstract
Free-standing Hydrogel Sheets Article 2300374 by Julian Thiele and co-workers showcases the design of free-standing functional hydrogel sheets based on spatially controlled assembly of microgels. Material-tolerant aspiration at hole-bearing glass plates with segment control allows for fabricating mechanically resistant multimaterial sheets made of two covalently connected microgel species. The additive manufacturing-like process provides a promising path towards system integration in polymer materials.
