Biomodeling: Perforated and Endothelialized Elastomeric Tubes for Vascular Modeling (Adv. Mater. Technol. 9/2019)
Source abstract
Abstract
A tubular silicone elastomer platform comprising arrays of perforations generated using focused laser ablation is described for modeling blood vessels in vitro by Weijia Zhang, Yu Shrike Zhang, and co-workers, in article number 1800741. When populated with endothelial cells on the interior surfaces and embedded within an extracellular matrix, cells can sprout out from the tubes into the surrounding matrix through the open pores, providing an enabling system for studying angiogenesis.
