Abstract

Abstract Non‐diffracting beams are characterized by their resistance to spreading, self‐acceleration, and self‐recovery, holding transformative potentials for long‐range wireless communications. Despite their promise, the conventional metasurface designs to generate the non‐diffracting beams face critical tradeoffs among miniaturization, bandwidth, and transmission efficiency. To solve the problem, a compact Pancharatnam–Berry (PB) phase‐driven metasurface operating at 5.5–6.0 GHz is presented, which features cross‐polarized transmission units with a minimized dimension of 0.14λ₀. By precisely tailoring the amplitude and phase profiles of a 2D Weber wave packet, the metasurface generates non‐diffracting Weber beams with parabolic trajectories. Near‐field measurements confirm that the beam retains stable intensity over an unprecedented 4 meters (77.34λ₀) propagation distance, while exhibiting lateral self‐acceleration and robust self‐healing capabilities. Systematic investigations reveal that the size and position of obstacle critically influence the self‐healing efficiency, and the obstructed main lobe is recovered within 0.5–2 meters, depending on occlusion dimensions. This work not only demonstrates the capability of the PB metasurface to generate robust Weber beams, but also quantifies its self‐healing performance under blockage, advancing applications in extended‐range communications and adaptive beamforming systems.
