Abstract

Abstract Controlled plasma generation in liquid remains a major challenge. Here, a novel acoustic cavitation‐assisted plasma (ACAP) system is reported to assist a controlled plasma generation in liquid. Investigating plasma behavior in liquids, the results reveal the mechanism of the discharge process and generation of active species. In the plasma discharge system, the distance between electrodes plays a critical role in determining the reduced electric field strength (E/N), plasma discharge efficiency, and behavior. The active species of N₂⁺, N₄⁺, O₂⁺, and O⁻ are distributed mainly in the bubble edge area, suggesting that the bubble interface is an important area for plasma chemical reactions. For wastewater treatment, the ACAP system can effectively destroy the molecular structure of pollutants (dyes), significantly reducing chemical oxygen demand (COD) and biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) and optimizing water quality conditions by regulating pH and removing suspended solids. These findings highlight the potential of the ACAP system as a scalable and energy‐efficient solution for controlled plasma generation in liquid and wastewater treatment.
