High-Temperature Performance Meets Printability: A Breakthrough in AM Superalloys
Source abstract
Abstract
Abstract This article describes a newly developed nickel-base superalloy tailored for powder bed fusion additive manufacturing and optimized for high-temperature structural applications. The ABD-900AM alloy was developed using a computational alloy-by-design approach to maintain a high gamma prime volume fraction and optimized refractory content. The result is a superalloy with creep strength comparable to cast materials like IN738 and IN939, but with the added benefit of being highly printable using both laser and electron beam systems.
