Probing Nanoscale Interactions of Antimicrobial Zinc Oxide Quantum Dots on Bacterial and Fungal Cell Surfaces (Adv. Mater. Interfaces 3/2022)
Source abstract
Abstract
Antimicrobial Zinc Oxide Quantum Dots In article number 2101484, Sheeana Gangadoo, Enrico Della Gaspera, James Chapman, Vi Khanh Truong, and co-workers report that utilizing 5 nm zinc oxide quantum dots (ZnO QDs) result in rapid and high antimicrobial performance against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and highly pathogenic yeast Candida auris cells. ZnO QDs are shown to adhere and cluster around microbial cell surfaces, resulting in cell membrane damage.
