Abstract

Hydrogen-Embrittled Catalyst Surface During hydrogen evolution reaction, hydrogen diffuses into the catalyst grain boundaries either in atomic or molecular form and severely affects its mechanical properties causing catastrophic brittle failures (hydrogen embrittlement). The H-embrittled catalyst surface possesses good oxygen adsorption efficiency and when this highly strained electrode is employed for oxygen evolution reaction one can anticipate an enhanced catalytic activity, as reported in article number 2101209 by Pitchiah Esakki Karthik, Min Jae Ko, Sung Chul Yi, and co-workers.
