Abstract
Improvement of Peening Depth Through Regulation of Surface Optical Absorption In article number 2101232, Guangzhi He, Jianfeng Yan, and co-workers propose a method to regulate the absorption behavior by surface colorizing to increase the affected depth of nanosecond laser shock peening. The improvement of laser shock peening depth is attributed to the increased laser absorption within nano-to-microscale structures. Highly affected depth (64.71%) and magnitude (17.87%) values for the compressive residual stress are achieved on colorized surfaces.
