Mussel‐Inspired Liquid‐Infused Slippery Surfaces: Substrate‐Independent Design of Liquid‐Infused Slippery Surfaces via Mussel‐Inspired Chemistry (Adv. Mater. Interfaces 12/2021)
Source abstract
Abstract
Bioinspired design takes blueprints from nature to replicate functionalities in man-made materials. In article number 2100156, Salvatore Chiera, Carina Bittner, and Nicolas Vogel demonstrate a double bioinspiration approach that combines the slippery surface of the pitcher plant with the universal adhesion of mussel foot proteins. This strategy yields highly repellent coatings on arbitrary substrates via a simple one-step process.
