Electrochemical Capacitors: Well Controlled 3D Iridium Oxide/Platinum Nanocomposites with Greatly Enhanced Electrochemical Performances (Adv. Mater. Interfaces 18/2019)
Source abstract
Abstract
Well controlled 3D nanocrystal Pt coating, electrodeposited as the intermediate layer on flexible microelectrode array (fMEA), is uniform and nanoflower-shaped characterized with extensive large surface area, providing good adhesion for IrOx nanoparticles deposition. The 3D IrOx/Pt nanocomposite coating maximizes the electrochemical performances and chronic stability for miniaturized electrochemical capacitors. It exhibits very low impedance, large cathodic charge storage capacity (CSCc) and record-high charge injection capacity (CIC), and also shows excellent sensitivity and selectively for glucose detection. The excellent characteristics are particularly desirable for neural electrodes and will pave a new way for various practical applications.
