Abstract

Rationally designed core–shell nanostructures consisting of AuNP cores, reduced graphene oxide spacer and PdNPs unveil enhanced activity for H2 and O2 generation under visible light. The surface plasmon resonance-enhanced electrocatalysis is correlated with a flow of energy biased toward the excitation of the energetic charge carriers in the Pd active sites, as corroborated by in situ X-ray absorption spectroscopy.
