Abstract

In article 1500358, D. Fattakhova-Rohlfing, T. Bein and co-workers describe the preparation of ultrasmall dispersible Co3O4 nanocrystals and successfully apply them as a surface treatment to nanostructured hematite photoanodes in light-driven water splitting. The treatment with nanoparticles leads to a striking photocurrent increase, which is attributed to a suppression of surface electron-hole recombination processes on millisecond to second time scales.
