Abstract

By spatially separating electrons and holes, ultra-long charge carrier lifetimes of over one hour are observed at room temperature as described by R. C. I. MacKenzie, P. H. M. van Loosdrecht, W. Tian, and co-workers in article 1400555. This opens up the possibility of developing entirely new classes of organic electronic devices such as ultra-sensitive photo detectors and optically writable memory elements.
