Abstract

Just one year ago we published the first issue of Advanced Materials Interfaces. As a sister of Advanced Materials the focus of the journal is on work that leverages the properties of the interface to develop innovative materials and technologies. The blend of physics, chemistry, materials science and life sciences encourages the formation of new, cross-pollinating ideas to drive forward our understanding of materials science at the interface. Advanced Materials Interfaces has been a success right from the start. We have received a warm and welcoming response from our communities and a near-overwhelming number of manuscript submissions. On the one side this led us to publish more issues in 2014 than initially anticipated. On the other, as space in the journal is unfortunately not infinite, we have been forced to become even more selective while aiming at high-level articles and breakthrough discoveries. Advanced Materials Interfaces is guided by an Advisory Board of outstanding scientists listed here. The journal provides a forum on topics of surface and interface science with a wide choice of formats: Full Papers, Reviews and Communications, as well as Progress Reports and Research News. To submit your manuscript, please visit www.editorialmanager.com/advmatinterfaces. Institutions can get free access in 2014 and 2015. Just ask your librarian to register here. The journal is currently undergoing evaluation by Thomson-Reuters and should be indexed soon in the Science Citation Index. It will receive its first impact factor in 2016. We wish to express our deep gratitude to our Board members, authors, reviewers, and of course you, our readers. We very much hope that you will continue to enjoy reading Advanced Materials Interfaces. The editorial team is happy to receive any input and comments at advmatinterfaces@wiley.com
