Lipid Membranes: Giant Vesicles Exposed to Aqueous Two‐Phase Systems: Membrane Wetting, Budding Processes, and Spontaneous Tubulation (Adv. Mater. Interfaces 1/2017)
Source abstract
Abstract
The lipid membranes of giant vesicles form patterns of flexible nanotubes when exposed to aqueous polymer solutions. The tubes point towards the solutions with the higher PEG concentration and reveal a large spontaneous curvature that the membranes acquire via asymmetric PEG adsorption. Recent studies are reviewed by Rumiana Dimova and Reinhard Lipowsky in article 1600451.
