Abstract

1D chains of gold nanoparticles covered with short double-stranded (ds) DNA (red) undergoes a spontaneous structural change into 2D arrays on the substrate surface. This change is achieved by using interparticle attractive forces emerging in a drying process between surface-bound dsDNAs, due to terminal blunt-end stacking interaction. This is reported by Shota Shiraishi, Tohuru Takarada and co-workers in article number 1800189.
