Abstract

The self-assembly of a planarized cyanosubstituted heterotriangulene on Au(111) is reported by K. Müller, M. Kivala, M. Stöhr, and co-workers in article 1300025. The complex interplay of intermolecular and molecule/substrate interactions leads to the development of different chiral phases, stabilized by a combination of dipolar coupling, hydrogen bonding, and metal–ligand interactions. The Au substrate interacts with the cyano ligands affecting both the molecular conformation and adsorption geometry.
