Superhydrophobic Surfaces: Exploiting Microscale Roughness on Hierarchical Superhydrophobic Copper Surfaces for Enhanced Dropwise Condensation (Adv. Mater. Interfaces 3/2015)
Source abstract
Abstract
Hierarchical micro- and nano-structured superhydrophobic surfaces are developed on metallic copper substrates for condensation heat transfer applications, as described in article 1400480 by S. V. Garimella and co-workers. The hierarchical features, in contrast to homogeneously nano-structured superhydrophobic surfaces, can synergistically facilitate condensed-droplet nucleation, growth, and departure processes to enhance dropwise condensation.
