Tailoring the molecular sieving action of zeolite Y with MOCVD‐type reagents
Source abstract
Abstract
A novel method of engineering the supercage aperture in zeolite Y that can produce zeolites with highly tunable pore sizes is described. The room temperature reaction of metal organic chemical vapor deposition species such as (CH3)2Zn or (CH3)2Cd with Brønsted acid sites in HπNa36−nY leads to anchored ZOZnCH3 or ZOCdCH3 moieties located at specific sites in the supercage of zeolite Y that can discriminate between H2S and H2Se. This degree of chemoselectivity will increase the number of potential practical applications of molecular sieves.
