Dynamic Self‐Assembly: Programming Cells for Dynamic Assembly of Inorganic Nano‐Objects with Spatiotemporal Control (Adv. Mater. 16/2018)
Source abstract
Abstract
A designer-cell-enabled strategy demonstrated by Chao Zhong and co-workers in article number 1705968 harnesses dynamic biofilm assembly for the templated, spatiotemporally controlled assembly of inorganic nanoscale objects (NOs) in solution in a dynamic, adaptive and hierarchical manner. By integrating programmed light regulation with a light-sensing strain, cells can be spatially controlled to assemble curli fibers on desired areas of the substrates using patterned masks and thereby achieve patterned assembly of quantum dots with a minimum patterning resolution of 100 μm.
