Electrocatalysis: Extremely Stable Platinum‐Amorphous Carbon Electrocatalyst within Hollow Graphitized Carbon Nanofibers for the Oxygen Reduction Reaction (Adv. Mater. 41/2016)
Source abstract
Abstract
On page 9103, M. del Carmen Gimenez-Lopez, A. N. Khlobystov, and co-workers report the unprecedented stabilization of platinum nanoparticles (PtNP) due to confinement in hollow graphitized carbon nanofibers (PtNP@S-GNF) catalyzing the electrochemical oxygen reduction reaction, which is potentially exploitable in fuel cells. The specific activity and the electrochemical surface area of the PtNP@S-GNF remain practically unchanged after 50 000 potential cycles, allowing the sustainable use of Pt in electrocatalysis.
