Abstract
In article number 1806294, Christof M. Niemeyer and Yong Hu describe how various sub-disciplines of structural DNA nanotechnology have developed, which are now merging into a coherent field of research. The progressive implementation of machine-assisted approaches will enable new applications in sensor technology, photonics, as interfaces between technical and living systems or even biomimetic manufacturing processes (Image credit: K.
