A Universal Coulombic Efficiency Compensation Strategy for Zinc‐Based Flow Batteries (Adv. Mater. 33/2024)
Source abstract
Abstract
Zinc-Based Flow Batteries In article number 2406366, Qing Wang and co-workers propose a general strategy using oxygen evolution reaction (OER) to compensate the coulombic efficiency loss caused by hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) of zinc-based flow batteries. The OER process can be implemented either directly on the electrode through electrochemical reaction or in an external catalytic reactor column via a redox-mediated process. Such a process effectively mitigates the gradual accumulation of unresponsive redox species by consuming the extra OH− during continuous cycling process and enhances cycling stability.
