Abstract

A metal carbonyl-caged graphene oxide nanomedicine engineered to deliver a CO donor into cells effectively and to release CO gas in a controlled manner for improved efficacy and biosafety of CO therapy is presented by Z Qian, X. Chen, and co-workers on page 6741. The nanoformula is highly responsive to near-infrared light for the on-demand release of CO gas, which generates an anti-inflammation effect on cells.
